The species occurs through southern and eastern China, including Taiwan, and extends into Laos and Vietnam. It is active during daylight and highly arboreal, climbing trunks and hanging from branches while feeding. Its diet includes fruit, seeds, insects and nectar from flowering ginger. The Taiwanese form occupies mountain forest at 2,000–3,000m and additionally eats tender leaves, shoots and petals. (Wikipedia, general species account; National Museum of Natural Science)
