Alström's warbler, also called the plain-tailed warbler, is a leaf warbler 11–12 cm long that breeds only in China. It is greyish-black on the crown with green around the eyes, a yellowish-green underside and a distinct yellow eye-ring, and it is easily confused with Martens's, Grey-crowned, White-speckled and Bianchi's warblers. (Wikipedia, general species account)

It breeds in scattered localities across central and eastern China, in bushes and small trees of low to moderate height in recently cleared areas, and has been seen on its breeding grounds in late April. Singing activity suggests mating in May and June. It forages in low, dense growth for insects and catches prey in short flights, and it migrates in winter to south-east Asia and southern China.
