Small insects and larvae
Habitat
Montane forest, principally at 950–2,300m
Range
Mainland Southeast Asia
Clutch size

The beautiful nuthatch has an irregular dark eyestripe that emphasizes the eye. It searches tree trunks and epiphyte-covered branches for small insects and larvae. Nesting occurs from April to May, usually in a hole in an oak, rhododendron or another large tree; plant material and fur form the nest, which normally holds four to six eggs. It principally occupies montane forest between 950 and nearly 2,300m, sometimes descending to around 300m in winter. (Wikipedia, general species account)
