Microhyla berdmorei
Habitat
Moist evergreen forest in hilly areas, often near streams
Range
Eastern India through southern China and mainland Southeast Asia to Sumatra and Borneo
Size
Males 25–28mm; females 27–45mm snout–vent length
Berdmore's narrow-mouthed frog is a small, long-legged microhylid with a characteristic yellowish underside. Males measure 25–28mm in snout–vent length and females 27–45mm; its tadpoles reach about 23mm. The comparatively long hind limbs enable powerful jumps. Its range extends from eastern India and southernmost China, where it is recorded in Yunnan, through mainland Southeast Asia to Sumatra and Borneo. (Wikipedia, general species account)
The species inhabits several types of moist evergreen forest, particularly in hilly country and around streams. Reproduction mainly occurs in still pools, where calling males assemble in large choruses. Published work indicates that frogs identified under this name in Bangladesh may belong to an undescribed species, so records from that part of the nominal range require taxonomic caution.
