The black-throated accentor is a small migratory passerine found in the Ural, Tian Shan and Altai Mountains and wintering in Afghanistan and neighbouring countries. It is a rare vagrant in western Europe. (Wikipedia, general species account)

It has a streaked dark brown back somewhat like a house sparrow's, but adults have a black crown, face patch and throat with a white supercilium, an orange breast and a white belly with orange stripes. It builds a neat nest low in spruce thickets, laying three to five unspotted blue eggs. The call is a fine ti-ti-ti and the song resembles the dunnock's twittering.
