Bufo danatensis is a name applied to tetraploid green toads of the arid region between the Caspian Sea and western Mongolia, mostly in mountain areas, with confirmed localities in Kazakhstan near Lake Balkhash, on the Ili River and in the Zaysan Depression. Its Chinese name is 'Danatea toad'. Its relationship to related green toads is unclear: Amphibian-list sources now place it under the Eastern Persian toad (Bufotes oblongus), and records from Xinjiang may belong to the Xinjiang toad (Bufotes pewzowi). No specific Xinjiang locality was found in the sources used here. (open-access original descriptions, Wikipedia and web summaries)
