Basic stats

Range

Amur River basin of north-eastern China, the Russian Far East and the Korean Peninsula

The Sakhalin toad (Bufo sachalinensis) was described from Sakhalin Island and was revived from synonymy with the Asiatic toad, Bufo gargarizans, in a 2022 study. Records from north-eastern China once assigned to B. gargarizans have been reassigned to it, and sources describe its range as the Amur River basin of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang and adjacent Russia, plus the Korean Peninsula. Early work noted only slight differences from Chinese specimens, such as smaller size at maturity and a larger, more elongate inner metatarsal tubercle.
