Certhia tianquanensis

Basic stats

Habitat

Open old-growth stands of Faber's fir at high altitude, 2,500–2,830m

Range

Western China (Sichuan)

The Sichuan treecreeper is a rare member of the treecreeper family. It is relatively large with a long tail, a strikingly short bill, a whitish throat and darker underparts. Intensive logging of primary coniferous forests in the last century, even at high altitudes in the mountains of western China, has seriously reduced its habitat (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is believed to be a relict species breeding in open old-growth stands of Faber's fir at high altitude, 2,500–2,830m (Wikipedia, general species account).
