Range

The common buzzard is a medium-sized bird of prey that breeds across most of Europe and much of the Palearctic as far as northwestern China and western Siberia. Over much of its range it is resident, but birds from colder areas and the eastern range migrate south for the winter, many as far as South Africa. It is an opportunistic predator, feeding mostly on small mammals, especially rodents, and usually hunts from a perch (Wikipedia, general species account).
