This nocturnal squirrel occurs in the Chinese provinces of Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan and Yunnan. It nests on cliffs, often around 30m above ground, and inhabits mountains from roughly 1,300–1,500m, with some reports as high as 2,750m. At night it searches for nuts, fruit and leaves; litters contain up to four young after an 80–90-day gestation. (Wikipedia, general species account)
