The collared crow is principally a rural Chinese corvid, occurring across extensive areas of the country but generally not north of Beijing. It frequents open plains, cultivated districts, low river valleys and paddy fields while tending to avoid major towns. It forages mainly on the ground for invertebrates and grain, especially rice, but also consumes refuse, carrion, eggs and nestlings. Its tree nest is plastered with mud, and the usual clutch contains three or four eggs. (Wikipedia, general species account)
