North-eastern Asia: Manchuria, south-eastern Siberia and the Amur region
Swinhoe's rail occurs in north-eastern Asia. It was known only from two locations in Manchuria and south-eastern Siberia, separated by more than 1,000km, until a new breeding population was found in 2018 in the Amur region, between the two (Wikipedia, general species account). The source used here is brief and gives no description.
