Melogale cucphuongensis

Basic stats

Range

Vietnam; listed for China in the Mammal Diversity Database

The Cuc Phuong ferret-badger, also called the Vietnam ferret-badger, is a member of the weasel family described in 2011 and known from only two specimens. It was assigned to a new species because of several markedly different characteristics, including a dark brown head and body, a black and white stripe running from the neck to the shoulders, and the shape of the skull (Wikipedia, general species account).

The general account describes it as native to Vietnam, while the Mammal Diversity Database also lists China, so its status in China is unconfirmed here.
