The Szechwan Japalure is a Chinese mountain dragon historically reported from several central and southwestern provinces. It uses dry mountain valleys and occurs among sparse scrub and grasses on slopes, riverbanks, field margins, roadsides, walls and vegetable plots, with records spanning approximately 350–3,450m in elevation. (Wikipedia, general species account)
Recent systematic work has shown that the traditional broad concept of Diploderma flaviceps contained several cryptic species. Some older records from Yunnan, Tibet, Gansu and Hubei have consequently been reassigned to other Diploderma species. Locality claims should therefore be checked against current revisions rather than copied uncritically from older range summaries. (Peer-reviewed taxonomic revision)
