Diploderma splendidum
Diet
Primarily insects, with possible occasional plant material
Habitat
Shrub vegetation in dry-hot river valleys and humid lowland forest in the Yangtze basin
Range
Southwestern China
The Green-striped Tree Dragon, also called the Splendid Japalure, is an agamid of the Yangtze River basin in southwestern China. It is primarily insectivorous, although gut-flora research suggests that plant material may sometimes be digested. Older sources placed it in Japalura as Japalura splendida. (Wikipedia, general species account)
Field research in western China identifies the species with shrub habitats in dry-hot valleys of the lower Jinsha River. Habitat use varies with age and sex: adult males favour higher positions in vegetation and moderate plant density, while juveniles and females differ in their use of trees, rocks, grassland and proximity to water.
