The eyebrowed thrush breeds in dense coniferous forest and taiga eastwards from Siberia and Mongolia to Japan and is strongly migratory, wintering south to China and Southeast Asia. It is an attractive thrush with a grey back and head, a black eyeline bordered white above and below, an orange breast and flanks and a white belly. The sexes are fairly similar, and immatures have a browner back (Wikipedia, general species account).
The male has a simple whistling song. It nests in trees, laying 4 to 6 eggs, and migrating and wintering birds often form small flocks. It is omnivorous, eating a wide range of insects, earthworms and berries.
