The fire-tailed myzornis is an 11–13cm bright-green mountain bird with a black eye mask, black crown scalloping, black-and-white wings marked by vivid red, and red outer tail feathers. In China it occurs in southeastern Xizang and western Yunnan. It inhabits moist montane forest, favoring bamboo, rhododendron, birch and juniper, and moves to lower elevations in winter.
