The ginkgo-toothed beaked whale is a poorly known, robust member of Mesoplodon named for the ginkgo-leaf shape of the adult male's two teeth. These teeth sit near the middle of the lower jaw but do not arch over the beak. Unlike many male beaked whales, known males show little or no combat scarring. The species is recorded from deep tropical and warm-temperate Indo-Pacific waters. (Wikipedia, general species account)
