The Golden Tree Snake is a slender, arboreal colubrid usually coloured green with black cross-hatching and yellow or gold accents. It has a flattened head, a narrow neck, a blunt snout and large eyes. Adults can reach approximately 1.3m, with the tail making up roughly one quarter of the total length. (Wikipedia, general species account)

The species occurs across South and Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong, Hainan and Yunnan. By flattening its body and launching from branches, it can glide between trees in a controlled descent. This behaviour is used while pursuing prey and escaping predators. It is rear-fanged and mildly venomous, but the opened account does not characterize it as a major danger to people.
