Breeds from the Caspian Sea to the Altai in Central Asia; winters in southern Asia

The grey-necked bunting, sometimes called the grey-hooded bunting, breeds along a wide range from the Caspian Sea to the Altai Mountains in Central Asia and winters in southern Asia, and is found in small flocks. Its recorded range includes China and Hong Kong, as well as Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Nepal, India and others. (Wikipedia, general species account)

It has a long pink bill and is greyish above. The male has a white eye-ring that stands out against the grey hood, a whitish-pink chin and throat bordered by grey malar stripes and pinkish-brown underparts; the female is duller. In winter it makes a short subdued click, and the song is a metallic jingle of swee-swee notes ending in dzwe-ee-dul. (Wikipedia, general species account)
