The grey treepie, also known as the Himalayan treepie, is an Asian treepie, a medium-sized, long-tailed member of the crow family, 36–40cm long and 89–121g. It is separated from other treepies by the overall grey colour of the body. Populations vary in plumage and several are named as subspecies. In the Himalayas it is found up to 2,400m, and in south-eastern China between 400 and 1,200m (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is omnivorous and largely arboreal, found in a wide range of habitats including forest, cultivation and human habitation, mostly feeding in trees but taking some food from the ground, especially in cultivation. It sometimes takes part in mixed-species flocks with laughingthrushes, especially the white-throated laughingthrush (Wikipedia, general species account).
