Habitat

Range
Tibetan Plateau, western Sichuan and Gansu
The ground tit is a Tibetan Plateau bird once mistaken for a ground jay because of its unusual appearance and terrestrial habits. It occupies open alpine steppe and sparsely shrubby arid country, generally above 3,000m, across the plateau, western Sichuan and Gansu. It normally escapes by rapid hops and bounds rather than sustained flight. Arthropods are taken from the ground, rock crevices and yak dung, which the bird probes or overturns while foraging.
