Habitat
Humid tropical and subtropical montane broadleaf forest, especially oak woodland
Range
Himalayan region from India to northern Thailand
Size
Usually found around 1,500–2,500m elevation
The Himalayan cutia inhabits humid tropical and subtropical montane forest from the Himalayan region eastward to northern Thailand. It favors broadleaf foothill forest, including oak woodland, generally from around 1,500m and rarely above 2,500m. The Vietnamese cutia was formerly treated as a subspecies but is now separated as a distinct species, so biological information associated with that population should not be transferred to Cutia nipalensis.
