Himalayas: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bhutan, Nepal and Yunnan, China

The Himalayan prinia is a bird in the family Cisticolidae found in the Indian subcontinent and parts of China, its range generally following the Himalayas: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bhutan, Nepal and Yunnan Province in China. It was formerly lumped with the striped prinia as the striated prinia, and the two are found together in Yunnan. The tail is long and broad, the bill blackish, and there is significant sexual dimorphism in size and colour (Wikipedia, general species account).

In the non-breeding season both sexes have streaking on the upper parts and mottling on the sides of the face and breast. In the breeding season males have a blackish crown, while breeding females are lighter with less streaking (Wikipedia, general species account).
