Breeds from Sikkim and Darjeeling in India eastward through the Himalayan forests
The Himalayan thrush or Himalayan forest thrush was described in 2016 and separated from the alpine thrush, with which it was formerly lumped. The alpine thrush breeds above the tree line, whereas the Himalayan thrush breeds in forested habitats. The two diverged from a common ancestor at least 3 million years ago, and they differ in song. The tree-dwelling species has shorter legs, tail and wings but a longer bill than the alpine thrush, using its shorter legs and tail to manoeuvre in forest. It breeds from Sikkim and Darjeeling in India eastward. The source does not describe its status in China. (Wikipedia, general species account)
