Jerdon's or the Indo-Chinese forest lizard (Calotes jerdoni) is an agamid found in western Yunnan and Xizang in China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, north-eastern India (Khasi Hills, Mizoram, Nagaland) and Myanmar. (The Reptile Database; Wikipedia, general species account)
Maximum total length is 38.5 cm, with a common length of 32 cm. It is terrestrial and arboreal, diurnal, and lives in many types of forested land. It feeds largely on insects but sometimes eats bird eggs, nestlings and frogs. It is oviparous, and the female digs a small hollow in soft earth and lays 11–23 eggs. Breeding begins around April, when males develop bright colour on the forebody and chase females. (Wikipedia, general species account)
