The Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin is generally smaller and more slender than the common bottlenose dolphin, with a longer beak and dark spotting that develops on the underside of many adults. It inhabits shallow coastal waters from eastern Africa and the Red Sea across southern Asia to East Asia and Australia. (Wikipedia, general species account)
The species feeds on fish and cephalopods around bays, estuaries, reefs and other nearshore habitats. It lives in fluid social groups and uses echolocation during foraging. Because of its coastal habits it is frequently observed from shore or boats, sometimes associating with other dolphin species. (Wikipedia, general species account)
