The leaf muntjac is one of the smallest deer, standing approximately 50cm at the shoulder. It has a reddish-brown coat; males bear very short antlers and canine tusks. First described from northern Myanmar, it has also been reported from neighbouring northeastern India and southwestern China. (Wikipedia, general species account)
It inhabits dense montane evergreen forest and is secretive and mainly solitary. Leaves, shoots, herbs and fallen fruit form its diet. The common name arose because local hunters said the body could be wrapped in a single large leaf. (Wikipedia, general species account)
