The Many-lined Sun Skink is a medium-sized skink reaching approximately 11.7cm in snout–vent length. It often has prominent coloured bands along the back, while details of its scale arrangement distinguish it from related species. Its broad range extends from India and southern China through Southeast Asia to southern Indonesia. (Wikipedia, general species account; peer-reviewed species study)
This insect-eating skink uses open forest, agricultural land and other disturbed environments. Unlike an egg-laying lizard, females give birth to two to seven young during the annual reproductive period, reported from April to June. A study comparing its seasonal biology with Reeves's Butterfly Lizard found that this species does not enter the same winter hibernation pattern. (Peer-reviewed species study)
