Brushy oak habitat at 2,400m and heath forest with mixed bamboo at 3,700m
Range
Slopes of Namcha Barwa, Medog County, Tibet, China (endemic)
The Medog mole is the only member of its genus and is endemic to Tibet, where it is found only in the vicinity of Namcha Barwa in Medog County. It is known only from the slopes of Namcha Barwa, the highest peak of the eastern Himalayas, where two specimens have been collected from burrows at 2,400m and 3,700m (Wikipedia, general species account).
The individual at 2,400m was found in a brushy habitat dominated by oak with abundant grass cover, and the one at 3,700m in a heath forest with mixed bamboo forests. Both habitats belong to the Eastern Himalayan broadleaf forests ecoregion (Wikipedia, general species account).
