The Mongolian gazelle is a lightly built, pale-brown gazelle of the open Central Asian steppe. Adult males bear backward-curving horns and develop an enlarged throat during the breeding season, while females are hornless. Its range is centred on Mongolia and extends into adjoining northern China and southeastern Russia. It primarily occupies flat or rolling semiarid steppe and dry grassland, feeding on the grasses and other plants available in these open landscapes. (Animal Diversity Web; peer-reviewed dietary study)
