Mrs. Gould's sunbird is a small nectar-feeder with a pointed, down-curved bill. Males display deep-violet crown and throat feathers, a scarlet mantle, yellow-green belly and blue-to-purple tail; females are less ornate. It inhabits broadleaf forests at 1,000–3,500m across the Himalayan region, mainland Southeast Asia and southern China. Nectar is supplemented by spiders, beetles and other small invertebrates. The female builds a moss, grass, fibre and spiderweb nest and lays two or three eggs. (Wikipedia, general species account)
