Xanthonycticebus intermedius
Range
Northern Vietnam, Laos and China
The northern pygmy slow loris was restored as a separate species in 2023 after genetic analyses distinguished a northern lineage from the southern pygmy slow loris, Xanthonycticebus pygmaeus. Under this treatment, Xanthonycticebus intermedius occurs in northern Vietnam, Laos and China, whereas X. pygmaeus occupies southern Vietnam, southern Laos and Cambodia. Species-specific ecological measurements remain sparse because much earlier information was published under the combined name Nycticebus pygmaeus. (Blair et al. 2023)
