The northern tree shrew is a slender, squirrel-like mammal with a long pointed muzzle, rounded ears and a bushy tail. Its coat is olive-brown, often with a pale shoulder stripe. The species ranges from northeastern South Asia through southern China and mainland Southeast Asia. (Wikipedia, general species account)
It is active by day in forest, scrub and plantations, moving both on the ground and along branches. Insects and other small animals are eaten with fruit and seeds. Females usually produce one to three young after approximately six weeks and visit their separate nursery nest only briefly to nurse. (Wikipedia, general species account)
