China (Pingbian and Jinping, Yunnan) and northern Vietnam

Ovophis anitae, the Pingbian mountain pitviper, is a venomous mountain pit viper endemic to Yunnan, China, and northern Vietnam. It was first named Ovophis malhotrae in 2023 and renamed because that name was unavailable; both honour Dr Anita Malhotra of Bangor University for her work on Asian pit vipers. (The Reptile Database; Wikipedia, general species account)

It is a wide, dark brown snake with a triangular head, a black marking on each side of the body, and cream-orange stripes from the eyes toward the neck that contain light brown spots. The tail has small white spots on top. (Wikipedia, general species account)
