Pallas's rosefinch is a medium-sized to large slender rosefinch 16–17.5 cm long, with a long notched tail. It breeds in boreal forest and shrubland in central and south-eastern Russia and Mongolia and is found in China and Japan in the non-breeding season, and also in Kazakhstan and Korea.
