The pin-tailed green pigeon is a medium-sized pigeon found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam. Males are 32–36cm long and females typically about 28cm, with an average weight of 185–255g. The legs and feet are bright reddish-pink (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is frugivorous, feeding mainly on fruit and berries, and gregarious, forming feeding flocks of 10–30 birds. The song is a soft, paired whistling ku-koo. The female lays two white eggs in a platform twig nest, usually 5–6m up, and both parents incubate and feed the young. Nesting has been observed in April to June in the Himalayan foothills (Wikipedia, general species account).
