The pomarine jaeger, or pomarine skua, is a seabird of the skua family, 46–67cm long (the upper limit includes the elongated tail streamer of breeding adults, about 10cm), with a wingspan of 110–138cm and a weight of 540–920g. It is much bulkier, broader-winged and less falcon-like than the parasitic jaeger, with the same wide range of plumage variation. Light-morph adults have a brown back, mainly white underparts and dark primaries with a white flash (Wikipedia, general species account).

In breeding adults of all morphs the two central tail feathers are much longer than the others, spoon-shaped and twisted from the horizontal. It breeds in the far north of Eurasia and North America and has many harsh, chattering calls (Wikipedia, general species account).
