Przewalski's gazelle is a slender gazelle endemic to China and now associated especially with isolated populations around Qinghai Lake. It inhabits semiarid grassland, open valleys and the transition between steppe and desert, generally at 2,900–3,700m. Sandy hills and dunes provide bedding and refuge sites. The species eats herbaceous and shrubby vegetation, selecting tender grasses, sedges and asters during the growing season and relying more heavily on dry grass stems and litter outside it.
