The red-headed bunting breeds in Central Asia, including Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and is migratory, wintering in India and Bangladesh. It is 17 cm long, larger than a reed bunting, with a long tail, and lays three to five eggs in a nest in a tree or bush. (Wikipedia, general species account)

It eats seeds, or insects when feeding young, and sings a jerky sweet-sweet-churri-churri-churri from a high perch. Its status in western Europe, where it is a vagrant, has been confused by escapes. The source does not describe its status in China. (Wikipedia, general species account)
