Pycnonotus jocosus
Diet
Insects, nectar, fruits and berries
Clutch size
2–3 eggs
Incubation period
12 days
The red-whiskered bulbul eats insects, nectar, fruits and berries and can act as an effective seed disperser. Its cup-shaped nest is constructed in bushes, small trees or on thatched walls using twigs, roots and grasses, sometimes decorated with bark, paper or plastic. The usual clutch is two or three eggs, which hatch after about 12 days. Both parents feed the nestlings, initially providing caterpillars and other insects before adding more fruit and berries as the young mature. (Wikipedia, general species account)
