The rufous-tailed scrub robin is a medium-sized Old World flycatcher of dry open country with bushes and shrubs. It breeds around the Mediterranean and east to Pakistan, partly migrates to winter in Africa and India, and also breeds south of the Sahara, where the African birds are sometimes treated as a separate species. The source does not describe its status in China. (Wikipedia, general species account)
Males and females look alike, about 15 cm long with brown upperparts, whitish underparts, a prominent whitish supercilium, a dark eye-stripe, relatively long legs and a large rounded tail. It builds its nest a few feet off the ground, with three to five eggs, and feeds mainly on the ground on beetles, grasshoppers, moth and butterfly larvae and earthworms. The song is a clear, thrush-like series of notes with a sad tone. (Wikipedia, general species account)
