Males measure approximately 130–165cm long and weigh 80–100kg, while females are smaller. It ranges across the mountains of Central Asia, including southern Siberia, Mongolia and western China, continuing toward Afghanistan and Pakistan. (Animal Diversity Web)
This ibex occupies rocky slopes, cliffs and alpine terrain from roughly 500m to above 5,000m. Its powerful limbs and hooves allow it to negotiate broken ground, where groups move between feeding areas and steep escape terrain. Herd composition varies with sex and season, with mature males often segregating from females and young outside the breeding period. (Animal Diversity Web)
