The Siberian or Asian stonechat is a recently validated species of Old World flycatcher, similar to the European stonechat but typically darker above and paler below, with a white rump and whiter underparts with less orange on the breast. Its breeding range covers most of temperate Asia, and it winters in the Old World tropics. It breeds in open rough scrubland or grassland with scattered shrubs from sea level to about 4,000 m or more. (Wikipedia, general species account)
Southern races, including the Turkestan stonechat przewalskii of south-west China, have larger white areas on the plumage. The male's breeding plumage is black above, with a clicking call like two pebbles knocked together, and a high twittering song like the dunnock's. (Wikipedia, general species account)
