Basic stats

Range

South-eastern China (including Hainan and Hong Kong) and north-eastern Vietnam

Sinomicrurus annularis is an Asian coral snake restricted to north-eastern Vietnam and south-eastern China, including Hainan and Hong Kong. It is a member of the venomous elapid family but is relatively little known. (The Reptile Database; Wikipedia, general species account)

It is dull red with black crossbands and a white underside, and the pattern varies. Related coral snakes hide or startle predators by twitching the body or showing the belly. The Wikipedia account partly draws on the related MacClelland's coral snake, so details of diet and behaviour for this species specifically are limited. (Wikipedia, general species account)
