Sitta przewalskii
Habitat
Typically 2,250–4,500m
Size
About 13cm
Przevalski's nuthatch is a medium-sized nuthatch about 13cm long, nesting typically at 2,250–4,500m depending on locality. It was long regarded as a subspecies of the white-cheeked nuthatch but differs significantly in morphology and voice. The upper body is a dark grey-blue or slate colour (Wikipedia, general species account).
The calls consist of alternating series of ascending whistles and short notes, and the territorial calls differ significantly from those of the white-cheeked nuthatch, whose notes are more nasal (Wikipedia, general species account).
