Spotted Elachura

The spotted elachura is a tiny, short-tailed forest bird measuring about 10cm. Its plumage is predominantly dark brown, with rufous wings and tail, white speckling across the body and black barring on the flight feathers and tail. It occurs in forests of the eastern Himalayas and Southeast Asia. Once classified as a wren-babbler in Spelaeornis, molecular research showed it to be an isolated passerine lineage, and it is now the sole species in the family Elachuridae.
