Breeds across the far north of Asia east of the Yenisey Basin; possible regular visitor to western Alaska

Stejneger's scoter, also known as the Siberian scoter, is a large sea duck. It differs from the white-winged scoter in several ways: males of the white-winged scoter have browner flanks, dark yellow colouring over most of the bill and a less tall bill knob, approaching the velvet scoter (Wikipedia, general species account).

It breeds over the far north of Asia east of the Yenisey Basin. Though previously considered rare in North America, it may be a regular visitor, and possible breeder, in western Alaska, with sightings at Nome, Saint Paul Island and Gambell (Wikipedia, general species account).
