Myospalax aspalax
Range
Eastern Mongolia and the Onon River basin of Russia
Myospalax aspalax is a subterranean zokor with a cylindrical body, reduced eyes and ears, a short tail and strong digging forelimbs. The opened account uses the English name false zokor rather than steppe zokor and places it in eastern Khentei and eastern Khingan in Mongolia and the Onon River basin of Russia. It does not clearly document a Chinese occurrence or provide sufficient species-specific ecological details. (Wikipedia, general species account)
