Swinhoe's white-eye is a member of the white-eye family found naturally from eastern China and Taiwan through northern Vietnam and the Thai-Malay Peninsula to Sumatra and Borneo. It was formerly treated as part of the Japanese white-eye, Zosterops japonicus, but molecular evidence led to its recognition as a separate species. The exact scientific name Zosterops simplex was originally introduced by Robert Swinhoe in 1861. (Wikipedia, general species account)
